Women’s Month: Marteen Michau

To end off this Women’s Month, we are featuring our very own Marteen Michau, Head of Fiduciary and Tax at Sanlam Private Wealth in Sandton. Marteen has a CA(SA), B Iuris and LLB degrees, and is admitted as an advocate. Having previously worked at PwC and FirstRand, where she was the head of the Fiduciary and Tax –International Advisory services division, and was tasked to start up the international advisory unit,with an exceptional team. In the eight years that Marteen was at the helm thereof, she was able to grow the business into a reputable international advisory offering with a differentiated offering in the industry.

Marteen began at Sanlam Private Wealth from scratch, with a clean slate. The division and team are a true differentiator in the industry in South Africa, with the exceptional talents, experience and skills of the individuals together in one team. Her role at SPW enables her to interact with both the first and second wealth generations, having the opportunity to create long term relationships with both generations. She is able to assist both of these generations with local and international structures, as well as with the successful management and transfer of their family wealth.

As with her  previous positions, she is able to develop young talent in any team that she is a part of and share her experience and knowledge with the younger generation to empower them thereby to greater success in their lives. Marteen has had 28 years’ experience in the Fiduciary and Tax industry, and counting!

Married for 32 years with two daughters, Marteen enjoys being in the bush with a camera and binoculars in hand and is passionate about rhino and elephant orphans. Along with her many other achievements, Marteen is a qualified field guide, and an advanced scuba diver. She cares deeply about education of the younger generation to empower them for the future.
