01 Nov Men’s Month: Kokkie Kooyman
With so much of the new month focusing on #Movember, we at Sanlam iTrade are labelling it the unofficial ‘Men’s Month’ and are using this opportunity to highlight and honour men who have excelled in business. First up is Kokkie Kooyman.
Kokkie obtained a B.Com degree with Honours before becoming a Chartered Accountant and a HDE. He went on to lecture at UCT from 1979 to 1980 and thereafter completed his articles at Arthur Young. Kokkie is responsible for managing the award-winning Sanlam Global Financial Fund. He established SIM Global in 2004, which merged with SIM Unconstrained Capital Partners to form Denker Capital.
He received the prestigious UK-based publication Investment Week’s Fund Manager of the Year award four years in a row (2010-2013) in the financials category. The funds that Kokkie has managed over the years have also received a range of industry awards. These include a Morningstar award and Best Specialist Fund for the Sanlam Global Financial Fund, as well as a Personal Finance Raging Bull Award for the SIM Global Best Ideas Feeder Fund (the South African-registered feeder fund for the offshore fund).
